Law enforcement requests

VaultEX cooperates fully with lawful requests from regulators, judicial authorities and law-enforcement agencies. This page sets out the process so requests reach the right team and are actioned within applicable timelines.

1. Purpose of this page

VaultEX cooperates with properly authorised law enforcement, judicial and regulatory requests in every jurisdiction where we operate. This page is the single authoritative channel for such requests.

2. Where to send requests

All legal requests must be submitted via one of the following channels. We do not accept requests by phone, chat, social media, or personal email.

  • Email le-requests@vaultex.ee. PGP key available on request; please encrypt sensitive content.
  • Postal — VaultEX Digital Assets Ltd, Attn: Legal (Law Enforcement), DIFC, Dubai, UAE.
  • Court / e-filing portal — service of court orders may be delivered through the competent court's e-filing portal where local rules permit.

3. What we require

Every request must include:

  • A valid legal basis (subpoena, court order, regulatory notice).
  • Requesting authority's name, the officer or lawyer in charge, badge / bar number, and a verifiable return phone line and email on the authority's official domain.
  • Narrowly scoped subject identifiers — one of: VaultEX UID, registered email, full legal name + date of birth, government ID number, or blockchain address.
  • Clear statement of the specific records requested (registration data, KYC documents, IP logs, trade history, deposit/withdrawal records).
  • The time window for the records.
  • Applicable legal deadline for VaultEX's response.

4. Emergency disclosure requests

If you believe there is an imminent threat to life or serious bodily harm and a formal legal process would cause unreasonable delay, mark the subject line EMERGENCY DISCLOSURE REQUEST and include a signed attestation by a supervising officer. VaultEX reviews and responds to valid emergency requests within 24 hours.

5. Account freezes and preservation

VaultEX may freeze, restrict, or preserve account data upon receipt of a lawful preservation or freezing order, pending the receipt of the underlying production request. Frozen accounts remain frozen until the matter is resolved.

Where permitted by law, VaultEX exercises an independent obligation to freeze or close accounts whenever we identify activity inconsistent with our AML/KYC Policy, sanctions screening, or our Terms of Service — whether or not a law-enforcement request is on file.

6. User notification

Unless prohibited by law, court order, or where VaultEX reasonably believes notice would compromise an investigation or create a risk of serious harm, we notify affected account holders before disclosing their data so they can seek independent legal counsel.

7. Response timing

  • Emergency requests — within 24 hours.
  • Preservation orders — within 3 business days.
  • Routine production requests — within 10 business days.
  • Large-scope requests (multi-account) — quoted on receipt.

8. Reimbursement of costs

For non-emergency requests involving substantial engineering or legal effort, VaultEX may, where permitted, seek reimbursement of reasonable costs incurred in producing records, in line with applicable rules.

9. Transparency

VaultEX publishes an annual Transparency Report summarising the volume and nature of government requests received, subject to applicable secrecy provisions.
